FCT, Abuja Professor Attahiru Jega, the former head of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has been extended an appointment by President Bola Tinubu. According to Vanguard, Jega was chosen to serve as co-chairman of the committee that was formed to solve barriers to agricultural productivity and create new opportunities that will benefit farmers, herders, processors, and distributors along the value chain of animal farming.
At the committee’s inauguration on Tuesday, July 9, in Abuja, President Tinubu made this announcement.Tinubu, the committee’s alternate chairman, emphasized that everyone in Nigeria—state governors, members of the public and commercial sectors, and others—will need to work together to implement the reforms. The President said,
“From here, I will appeal to everyone to remove every iota of partisan politics from this.
” according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
As the committee’s president, I will take over as chairman, designating Professor Attahiru Jega as my deputy or co-chair.
This is not about politics; this is about opportunity. This is about our nation.
“While I may be absent, Jega will preside and continue to promote our objectives.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator George Akume, and President Tinubu’s chief of staff Femi Gbajabiamila were present at the inauguration.
