This occurs barely one month after it was reported that a four-story structure collapsed in Lagos’ Isale-Eko neighborhood, trapping numerous persons.
It was said that the building was flawed and that it collapsed following a fire that broke out in some areas of Lagos Island’s Dosunmu Market.
Lagos affirms the fall of the Isale-Eko building
The National Emergency Management Agency’s (NEMA) Lagos territory coordinator, Ibrahim Farinloye, verified the event and stated that the fire had a significant impact on 14 further properties. According to him, the Nigeria Police, the Nigeria Ports Authority fire service, the Federal and State Fire Services, the NEMA, and other emergency responders had already arrived at the location.
Due to the fire’s severity, four structures in the Dosunmu Market on Lagos Island collapsed in April. The middle of April 2024 saw a fire at the Dosunmu market. The Punch claims that the fire was started by a negligent generator refueling in one of the buildings’ penthouses.
