Martins Vincent Otse, often known as Verydarkman, VDM, is a Nigerian social media activist who has voiced his opinions on the ongoing disagreement between the government and billionaire Aliko Dangote.
The president of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, recently declared that the firm was not given any incentives by Lagos State or the federal government to build its $20 billion refinery in the Lekki Free Trade Zone.
He made the disclosure on Saturday during a tour of the refinery by the House leadership, which included Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
Subsequently, the wealthiest individual in Africa declared his intention to transfer control of his multibillion-dollar oil refinery to Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited, the state-owned company.
In response to the widely shared footage of Dangote’s press conference, Verydarkman claimed that Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration had let the tycoon down. He accused Dangote of employing monopoly tactics to refute his claims that the refinery was being built for the country’s benefit.
Rather than selling his refinery to NNPC, VDM advised the tycoon to reevaluate his deal with the government. The popular figure on the internet proposed that reaching a cooperative agreement with the government could be a better course of action than rushing into selling the refinery.
