Tinubu has stated that Northern Nigerians will not vote for him in the 2027 election.

FCT, Abuja – Abdul-Aziz Na’ibi Abubakar, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader, has stated that President Bola Tinubu will not receive northern votes in the 2027 election. Abubakar, the director-general (DG) of media for Atiku The Light Organisation, questioned if Tinubu could be elected for a second term based solely on the southwest geopolitical zone.

Tinubu’s aide is fuming over the Samoa contract agreement scandal. After some northern clerics criticized the Tinubu-led administration for signing the controversial Samoa agreement, which the religious leaders believed encouraged LGBTQ people, Dada Olusegun, President Tinubu’s special assistant on social media, spoke out on Saturday, July 6. Olusegun wrote in his verified X account:

Meanwhile, Premium Times reports that the new Samoa deal inked by Nigeria does not include LGBTQ protections. LGBTQ, which stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer, is illegal in Nigeria. People who enter into a same-sex marriage contract or civil union are committing an offense and face a 14-year prison sentence if convicted. Contrary to media reports, the new Samoa pact does not include LGBT elements.

He stated that certain opposition groups are claiming that the North is opposed to the president and will not vote for him in the 2027 general election.
