Music Week has already reported the market share for the first six months of the year, with EMI once again leading.
According to Official rankings Company sales estimates, US acts lead the half-year artists rankings in both albums and singles.
Meanwhile, catalogue-based titles account for 14 of the top 20 albums, with current releases by Taylor Swift, Noah Kahan, Olivia Rodrigo, and Billie Eilish making the Top 5.
Taylor Swift leads with The Tortured Poets Department (542,206 sales).
Elton John is the sole UK artist in the albums Top ten with Diamonds (No.10), while US-UK act Fleetwood Mac is at No.6 with the 50 Years – Don’t Stop collection.
It comes after a terrible year in 2023 for UK breakthrough talent, with Joel Corry’s Another Friday Night being the lone debut in the Top 100 albums last year. Corry’s album is ranked 46th for the year so far.
However, there has been an improvement so far this year, with The Last Dinner Party’s No.1 debut Prelude To Ecstasy ranking No.36 for the first six months.
Despite being established musicians, Liam Gallagher and John Squire’s debut album is ranked No.64 for the half-year.
Returning singer Dua Lipa has also performed well with her third album Radical Optimism (No.26), while Raye’s 2023 album My 21st Century Blues (No.38) has had a rebirth following her BRITs victory.
Rod Stewart and Jools Holland are at number 73 with Swing Fever, a strong seller on CD.
Charli XCX’s Brat, which was released last month, is also among the top 100 albums of the year so far.
Noah Kahan is at the top of the half-year singles chart, having sold 1,369,696 units. North American artists dominate the Top 10, with Teddy Swims’ Lose Control at No. 2, Benson Boone’s Beautiful Things at No. 3, and Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso at No. 4.
Hozier, a UK-signed Irish singer-songwriter, is at No. 5 with Too Sweet.
Prada by Casso, Raye, and D-Block Europe is the most popular UK artist single, peaking at number seven.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s catalogue hit, Murder On The Dancefloor, is at number eight.
