As he and friend Hugh Jackman kicked off the Deadpool & Wolverine press tour in Seoul, South Korea, the Marvel star answered questions from fans and expressed his affection for K-pop duo Blackpink.

Reynolds, Jackman, and director Shawn Levy received traditional Korean hanboks during their presentation; the moderator mentioned that these were created by the same person who created Blackpink’s Coachella costumes.

Reynolds declared, “I love Blackpink,” after learning this, and went on to say that he also really liked the South Korean boy band Stray Kids.

Reynolds has actually been a fan of Stray Kids since 2021, when the actor praised the group for their Deadpool-inspired performance on the Korean television program Kingdom: Legendary War.

Felix, one of the band members, donned a red mask in honor of Reynolds’ well-known role for the performance, and he welcomed the crowd in a style reminiscent of the movie’s opening sequence.

Reynolds was soon drawn to the number and expressed his support for it on X, the former Twitter, tweeting, “Oh hello @stray_kids.”

After the performance went viral, Reynolds and Stray Kids vocalist Bang Chan had a sweet social media conversation in which Chan confessed to being a huge fan of the actor. Reynolds once referred to Bang as his “new favorite Australian,” making fun of his friend Jackman.

Subsequently, in order to promote Reynolds’ movie Free Guy, the two collaborated on a virtual interview in which the K-pop artist asked him a few questions.

In the video, Reynolds exclaimed to Chan, “I’m such a huge fan.” He went on, “I’m really proud that I get to kind of know you now. Not only do I love what you guys do, but I love how you do it because you do it with joy and authenticity.”

Reynolds’ publicity trip for Deadpool & Wolverine, which stars him and his longtime friend Jackman, began recently with an appearance in South Korea.

In a special conversation with PEOPLE, the two discussed their 17-year friendship and said that “truly rooting” for one another “all the time” is the “secret sauce” to their relationship.

“I hope you prevail. Reynolds mentioned his wife Blake Lively and stated, “I feel the same way about Blake.” “We are so connected because, while I’m rooting for her, I know she’s rooting for me.”
